Urinary Tract Infection Services at Online Urgent Care
What is this?
A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection in any part of your urinary system including your kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. Most infections involve the lower urinary tract namely the bladder and the urethra. Women are at greater risk of developing a UTI than are men due to a shorter urethra. Bladder infections can be painful and annoying, but serious consequences can occur if a UTI spreads to your kidneys.
What are the symptoms?
Burning urination is the most common complaint. Often patients also complain of frequent urination, dribbling, incomplete bladder emptying and odorous urine. Sometimes a mild backache, pinkish to bloody urine, fever, and general muscle aches can ensue but these latter symptoms can flag more serious symptoms.
Can it be treated?
UTIs are often very easily treated with antibiotics. Your doctor will know how long to treat you depending on your symptoms, your sex, and previous health conditions.
